Chasing Our Youth

The city it taunts me,

It haunts me with its shiny armoury,

No more concrete jungle but a glass encasing,

I embrace for the days and nights of endless chasing.

Bad decisions with hopeful conclusions,

I wonder what side my fate will choose,

For the time being this is all so amusing,

But I’ll later come to regret all the alcohol abusing.

Young with a mission to stay reckless,

We wander the streets to be able to tell a story that’s endless,

Where has the time gone and where has all my money been blown,

A foreign concept to a 20-some year old whose only worries left him as he left home.

With a clear end in sight,

My parents warnings are coming back to haunt me as I say goodnight,

With a warped recollection of time and space,

My mixed memories all align eventually to leave a bad taste.
