Somewhere Past the 1000 Islands

The answers lie behind the eyelids,

Somewhere well past 1000 islands,

A place where I’ve only been,

Where Light and dark mix together to create a mild hue,

Not blue,

Not red,

But a hopeful tinge of you,

Wide eyed and child like,

its a pleasant view,

Something I aspire to,

But if I’m being real with myself,

If I’m to heal from within I’m to heal without,

It’s a sense of loss that only comes from gain,

So instead,

I do the most in order to refrain,

Moving and grooving to the dance of the flame,

Clarity is in my grasp so I turn the corner attempting to make this moment last,

Buried in shame are the thoughts of the past,

Trauma shows it’s head and I take a troubling gasp,

Nowhere to run,

Nowhere to hide,

But clarity is in my grasp,

So I turn the corner with the intention to make this moment last,

So I make this moment last.
